1. What LawyersIndex is

LawyersIndex is a directory of attorneys built from official state attorney records. LawyersIndex is not a law firm, does not give legal advice, and is not a lawyer referral service. Using the site, or contacting an attorney you find on it, does not create an attorney-client relationship with LawyersIndex or with that attorney. Don't send confidential information to an attorney until you have agreed that they will represent you.

2. Attorney information and license status

Each attorney is listed because they appeared as active, registered or in good standing in a state's official records at the time of our most recent update for that state. Each profile shows the source and the date of that update.

License status can change at any time, for example through suspension, discipline, resignation, retirement, inactive status or death, and we may not learn about a change until the state's next update. Some states share only part of the record (for example, names, cities and ZIP codes). Other information, such as the other states where an attorney is licensed, practice-area tags shown before an attorney claims a profile, and map locations, may be matched, inferred or approximate, and can be incomplete or wrong.

3. You are responsible for verifying an attorney

Before you hire or rely on an attorney, you must confirm with the official attorney lookup of each relevant state that the attorney is currently licensed and eligible to practice law there. Each profile links to that lookup. You are also responsible for deciding whether an attorney is qualified and suitable for your matter. LawyersIndex does not verify, guarantee or vouch for any attorney's license status, qualifications, experience, competence, ethics or availability.

4. No endorsement; advertising

A listing on LawyersIndex is not a recommendation. The order of results and the position of attorneys on the map are not a ranking of quality. Featured and sponsored listings are paid attorney advertising and are labeled that way. Paying for a listing never changes a rating or removes a review. The site also shows ads from advertising networks such as Google AdSense, and some links to products or services are affiliate links: LawyersIndex may earn a commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. Advertisers and affiliate partners never affect which attorneys are listed.

5. Reviews and attorney-provided information

Reviews are the opinions of the people who write them, not of LawyersIndex. Information an attorney adds to a claimed profile is provided by that attorney. We don't independently verify every review or every profile detail.

6. Acceptable use

You may use LawyersIndex to look for and contact attorneys for your own legal needs. You may not scrape, copy in bulk, or compile lists from the site; use attorney contact information for spam, mass marketing or unsolicited bulk messages; post false, misleading or abusive content; impersonate an attorney or anyone else; or interfere with the site's operation.

7. Accounts

Give accurate information when you create an account and keep your password private. You are responsible for activity under your account. Attorneys who claim a profile also agree to the Attorney Listing Terms. We may suspend accounts that break these terms.

8. Corrections and removal

If something about an attorney is wrong, email corrections@lawyersindex.com. Attorneys can ask to have their listing removed; removed attorneys are kept on a do-not-post list so they don't reappear when state records are updated.

9. No warranty; limitation of liability

LawyersIndex is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, including that information is accurate, complete or current. To the fullest extent the law allows, LawyersIndex and its operators are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site or your reliance on any information on it, including your choice of attorney or any services an attorney provides or fails to provide.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site grows. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If you keep using the site after a change, the updated terms apply, and we may ask account holders to agree to them again.
